Minecraft film is'set to hit silver screen' 28 February 2014 The block-building game Minecraft is extremely loved, is set to be made into a film. Markus Persson, Minecraft creator, revealed this week that Warner Brothers was in conversation with him regarding the Minecraft project. Mr Persson stated that he divulged the news to thwart another person who tried to leaked information about the transaction. Movie news site Deadline has reported that one of the producers of the recent Lego Movie is handling the project. minecraft Warner was planning to make the live action version of the game into a film according to Deadline. The film is still in its early stages, as Warner has recently acquired the rights to Minecraft's iconic characters monsters, blocks, and blocks. This news comes less than two months after Mojang, Minecraft creator, has shut down a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to create a film that was based on the game. Film adaptations of top-selling games have a long and rocky history in Hollywood and a lot of projects never make it past the initial planning stage. For instance, a film set in the science-fictional Halo universe has been in development for nine years, but filming has not yet to begin despite multiple scripts being written. Similar films based on Bioshock or Gears of War have been discussed but no film has yet started shooting. One game that is being turned into a film is World of Warcraft, filming of which was reported to have begun in the latter part of January, with British director Duncan Jones in charge.
